When it comes to luxury interior design, it was long the case that the best place to see it was in the home. Where teams of dedicated, inspirational designers would unleash their creativity to astound and inspire. By comparison, superyacht interiors were… less dramatic.
Well, not any more.
Over the last few years, we’re finding some of the worlds leading Interior Design agencies taking to the seas to bring their vision to life. But it’s not a simple direct translation, the needs and demands of a superyacht interior are vastly different to those of an apartment in uptown New York.
That’s why we’ve picked our top three ones to watch. These three Interior Designers learnt their trade on shore but now are either bringing that class and luxury to superyachts already or are poised to soon. Ready to find out who should be doing your next superyacht interior? Read on to find out…
Based in Chicago, Suzanne has had a long and illustrious career which spans the globe. With her team of twenty, Suzanne has a portfolio of luxury and innovation which other interior designers would love.
One of the standouts in that portfolio, however, is the Penthouse of Shahid Khan and his wife. This project was Suzanne’s first introduction to marine concepts as the Khan’s wanted the interior to resemble the interior of their superyacht, the 95m Kismet.
Taking the Kismet as her starting point and progressing from there, the finished space was so stunning that the Khans exclaimed: “We want our next boat to look like this house!”
Having seen the results ourselves, we can’t blame them. Now we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before Suzanne and here team bring their inspiration to a superyacht and show the world what they can really do!

Headed by Mike Fisher, the team understands that the best results come from a strong relationship with the owner. No matter how you intend to enjoy your ship, whether you plan to holiday, adventure or view her as an investment, Indigo will bring a unique vision that will only enhance the ship’s value.
They’re also experienced in collaborating with shipyards to ensure perfect results. You can see the quality of their work on the Feadship Joy right here. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
As founder of Studioilse, together with her multi-disciplinary, London-based team, Ilse is redefining the way design is conceived around the world. With a focus which keenly feels the needs and desires of the human at its core, Ilse’s design philosophy is totally unique.
Studioilse already has completed interiors of several superyachts, including the classic Shemara by Thornycroft. So, they completely understand the need to balance luxury with functionality. Fusing the two competing ideas seamlessly to create spaces which are as beautiful as they are useful. They’re for people to enjoy and feel at home in – not just look at.
With such unique understanding, insight and experience, we look forward to the next projects from Ilse and her team.
Whilst the disciplines of interior design for a superyacht and a home are similar at their core, the details and needs are hugely different. That said, as established, traditional, luxury designers test their sea legs, we know we’re in for a treat. The inspiration, ideas and fresh vision they’ll bring to superyacht interiors can only mark a renaissance of new designs for these queens of the sea.
