As guests expect more from their stay in a hotel, some hotels are looking to technology to enhance their guest’s stay. The right innovation in the right place can make all the difference. From small updates to mind-blowing integrated tech, here are some of our favourite examples of the future of luxury hotels.
Henn-na Hotel, Nagasaki
Hideo Sawada, owner of the Henn-na Hotel has the plan to make the most efficient hotel in the world. His vision is to reduce the manpower in his destination by 90%. You can see that in the details of the room such as air-con which adjusts to the guest’s body temperature or the facial recognition used for room entry. Once in your room, you’ll find a Chu-ri-chan electronic creature on your bedside table. This helpful little character can be used to switch on lights, offer weather forecasts or for wake-up calls.
Hotel Norge, Bergen
Visitors to Bergen, in the southwestern coast of Norway, can find the seasonal changes in sunlight very hard to cope with. The winter sees less than 50 hours of sunlight per month, whilst the summer sees this jump to nearly 200 hours due to the latitude of the country. So how do you make this more palatable to the international traveller? Dutch design agency Concrete used breath-taking technology to do just that. Walking into the lobby of the Hotel Norge, visitors are bathed in a warm, adaptive glow from a giant sun light fixture. Changing throughout the day, it gives a welcome and natural light throughout the space.
Smart LYZ, Shenzhen
Smart LYZ is developing and opening a range of hotels which utilise AI technology to deliver a true smart hotel experience. Aiming to have over fifty smart locations in a short time, this Shenzhen-based company has put technology at the heart of their destinations. When visiting one of these hotels, guests don’t need to interact with a single member of staff. With on line booking, facial recognition for check-in, pass-code or app door entry and app log-out, the whole experience is controlled through the
latest in technology.
W Hotel Singapore
A true destination for the music and party lovers out there. W Hotels are known for their party-centric energy across the world. Each room features the best in sound systems with Bose speakers throughout and iPod docks for guests to bring their own tunes. Whilst technology can make a hotel visit more efficient, it can also bring a magic and wonder to a guest’s stay. As our choices above show, the right innovation can change a hotel into a truly unique destination. We can’t wait to see where the next revolutionary idea comes from or what it brings to our hotel adventures.
